Week 10 – Recap
JRHL Week 10 – Silver Snakes lose to the Barracudas, Red Jaguars handle the Monkeys and the Iguanas force game 3 with the Parrots.
Silver Snakes: 4 – Blue Barracudas: 16
Let’s face it, The Silver Snakes just aren’t the same team with Tim George out of the line-up. They lost the first game of the season pretty bad to the Jags in his absence and just lost to the Barracudas the same way this weekend. However, they have already clinched 1st place and this game had no bearing on the playoffs for them. The Snakes just couldn’t find their groove with the league’s top scorer out of the line-up but that should not take away from the dominate performance of The Blue Barracudas. Forwards Russ Griffith and Brandon Curtis were on fire!! It seemed as if they had an internal competition of who could score more. Russ won that battle finishing with 7 goals to Brandon’s 6 but Curtis finished with 11 total points leaving him a prime candidate for that 6 pack. Silver just couldn’t get anything going and it showed when Goalie Matt Pfeil made a beautiful leg save on a wide-open Brian Terek. That save was the highlight of an otherwise lopsided game. When its all said and done both teams will still be playing next weekend in the first round of the playoffs
Green Monkeys: 5 – Red Jaguars: 6.5
6.5 you ask, this reporter could not give Red a full point as they needed a replacement player to fill a roster and of course he made it on the board. The Monkeys did not look like the team that fought their way into the postseason from a week ago. However, the game was close on the scorecard as the first frame finished 3-2 in the favor of the Jags and the second ended up 5-3. The 3rd period was a 2-2 stalemate with Green throwing up a Hail Mary by pulling the goalie but came up short in the end. Duane Reed was the games leading scorer by netting 4 goals. After the outcome of the game prior, this game meant nothing in the grand scheme of things, as both teams are heading to the playoffs.
Orange Iguanas: 13 – Purple Parrots: 11
GAME 3 WILL BE COMING YOUR WAY NEXT WEEK!!!!! Orange picked up their second win of the season in another game for the weekend that had no bearings on the playoff picture although this game may have had bigger implications. With orange squeaking out the victory, we will all have the pleasure of viewing the rubber match for 5th and 6th place. The Purple Parrots picked up the win in game one earlier this season and who knows how this story will end. I guess we will have to wait and see.
