2019 Fall Power Rankings
1. Silver Snakes
Hats off to GM Bird for this collection of talent. The Snakes have arguably two of the biggest shots in the league. Bird was able to draft a group of players who have years of experience playing together. It looks to be a great landing spot for their rookie forward. Expect this team to have minimal learning curve playing together and begin to collect wins early.
2. Blue Barracudas.
GM Pfiel drafted several familiar faces from the former 2017 Windber League Champions, Pellegrinos/Windber Hotel. He paired a group of proven winners with several draft picks that have plenty of speed and skill. “Reliable” was the term used to describe his third round selection.
3. Red Jaguars.
Tough decisions came early and often during this draft. Ultimately GM Akers sided with the scouting reports when selecting in the 2nd and 4th rounds. This team has a good mix of talent and work ethic that will likely make them a tough out.
4. Orange Iguanas
There was no secret GM Botteicher was looking to solidfy the blue line… consider it job well done. Former WLC stand out defenders will likely make life easy for the goaltender. The depth at forward is noticeable as well. Possibly the most balanced team in the league.
5. Green Monkeys
This team has been hyped up more than the 2019 Cleveland Browns, but large questions loom for the monkeys. GM Carpenter selected several players known for their work ethic and past championship history. However the franchise goaltender is expected to miss significant time early and it will be interesting to see how the backup performs. A few character issues exist and one can only wonder how those will be handled within the locker room. High expectations for both team and their first round selection could prove too much.
6. Purple Parrots
GM Adams was likely at the biggest disadvantage having little background information on most of the players in the draft. This team will need each player to perform at max potential and maybe even a bit more. Expect the Parrots to lean heavily on their former 5x Windber League Champion forwards and hope that a few veterans still have something left in the tank.
