League Statement

Hello Gents,
First off I would like to thank everyone for a wonderful season YTD. This is turning into the best most competitive season yet (defense knows how to draft teams 🙂 ). Also, there have been no hiccups on the referee situation so that has been fantastic, Thank you!!!!
With a compliment always comes a negative. I want to address some of the physical play as of late. Watching almost every game from the top and listening to everyone’s opinions, it has come to our attention that we need to pump the brakes on the following:
  1. Stick Checking – poke checking the ball is good defense. Swinging your stick with two hands at your fellow league member is not. Please respect your fellow man and understand everyone has to work the next day and provide for their families.
  2. Slashing which leads to tripping. Please respect your fellow man and understand everyone has to work the next day and provide for their families. (Do you see what I’m am getting at here)
    Actual Checking/physical play on the walls/skating full speed into our goalies. Please respect your fellow man and understand everyone has to work the next day and provide for their families. (Interesting there it is again)
  3. Bitching at the VOLUNTEER Referee. If you haven’t took a turn to try this out please do. After you do you will understand how difficult it actually is. This is a FAST league and seeing everything is hard. Just remember these refs are helping so our league can continue.
  4. With that being said I employ the referees to actually make a call. DO not be scared of a grown man yelling at you because you called a penalty. You have the leagues full support and what you call is gospel. I believe this is the root of the problem. In the back of everyone’s head they feel there wont be a penalty called on them so they play a little more free. (Please respect your fellow man and understand everyone has to work the next day and provide for their families – #tending)
  5. If this play continues calls will be made from the track by board members to help the referee.
I don’t want anyone reading this to think we are signaling anyone out. I am addressing everyone in the league including myself and other board members. I know everyone really enjoys this league and I wouldn’t want it to end because of incidents that can be avoided. Please come find me this weekend if you have any opinions on how to improve the league.
