JRHL Winter 2020 - Week 2 Preview

Week 2 Preview – Winter 2020

Referee Scott Wertz will be officiating this Sunday. Bye weeks suck, now for some refreshing JRHL game notes.

5:30 Green Monkeys vs Orange Iguanas

  • Split stats- Dean Carpenter career 5.0, Tyson Botteicher career 7.0
  • Monkeys are 2-0 against Iguanas
  • Monkeys with a slight edge in total scoring 14-10

2020- Both teams are coming off somewhat disappointing losses in the season opener. The Monkeys scored the least vs the Iguanas who allowed the most- something has to give in week 2. Look for the Monkey’s offense to get going with the Iguanas keeping pace throughout most of the game. Green pulls away in the third to win a tight one.

Monkeys -2.5

6:30 Purple Parrots vs Silver Snakes

  • Split Stats- Brandon Bird career 6.5, Jason Adams career 14.5
  • Snakes are 2-0 lifetime against Parrots
  • Snakes hold edge 29-13 in scoring

The defending champs find themselves in a difficult situation having dropped their season opener. Reports have surfaced 2nd round pick, Nolan Mock, is doubtful for the matchup and rookie defenseman John Shander is questionable. The Parrots are coming off a 22 goal outburst and looked like a well-polished team after taking full advantage of the preseason reps. Parrots by a handful

Purple -4.5

7:30 Blue Barracudas vs Red Jaguars

  • Split stats- Matt Pfiel career 8.0, Ryan Akers career 8.33
  • Jaguars are 2-1 in this matchup, but the fish won the more important playoff game
  • Barracudas hold edge 25-24 in total scoring.

Both the Barracudas and Jaguars opened the season with W’s. The main storyline in this one has to be Hound Dog Scott Bassett wearing a different uniform for the first time against his former team of many seasons. Word from Barracudas camp is a short tribute video will be shown prior to faceoff. Defenseman Bernie Seth expected to be a game-time decision. Expect a close game with all the usual suspects showing up big in this rivalry match.
